Keep the system information together

Retain equipment model numbers, serial numbers, installation records, warranty terms, operating instructions and any service reports. These are useful when asking for support.

Observe safely

From a safe position, note changes in display readings, warning messages, shading or unusual noise. Do not climb onto a roof, touch exposed conductors, disconnect PV cables or open equipment enclosures.

Record a change before making an assumption

If backup time falls, record which loads were running, for how long, and whether charging conditions changed. Lower runtime alone does not establish a failed battery.

Follow model-specific maintenance instructions

Panel cleaning, ventilation, battery care and inspection intervals depend on the equipment and environment. Some tasks need isolation procedures, working-at-height controls and a qualified technician.

Treat signs of danger seriously

If you notice smoke, heat damage, sparking or a burning smell, keep people away and seek qualified emergency help. Do not attempt an improvised repair. Use only emergency isolation procedures you have been safely trained to follow.
